Val d´Aran´s Highlights
Val de Torán: It gives shelter to some typical little villages, close to the French border, which are surrounded by beech and fir tree forests. At the end of the road, we find the Honeria Refuge, which is the starting point to several trekking excursions.
Bausen and Carlac Forest: This is a beautiful trekking excursion of about 3 hours. It starts in the village of Bausen and goes along gorgeous landscapes and an overgrown beech forest over 3000 years old.
Baronia de Les: This route goes along Low Aran, by the Garona River bank, between Bossòst and Les, following the path that goes to the Capèla de Sant Blas.
Victoria Mines: They are proof of an activity which disappeared some time ago. It is possible to have a guided visit during the summer months.
Saut deth Pish: This is an astonishing cascade. It is easy to get to it along a 12 km paved track that goes through part of the Varradós Valley.
Pòrt de Vielha: This is a route starting in the old Vielha's Hospital and it takes the hiker along some of the least known landscapes. The path, at times cobble stone paved, reminds the visitor that this was in the old times, one of the most important routes.
Restanca and Lac de Mar: From Arties, and after a 7 km paved forest track, we reach Pònt de Resec. From here we start the ascend to the Restanca refuge. We'll go through fir, beech, oak and black pine tree forests. The route goes all the way up to Lac de Mar, which is 1600 long by 500 m wide.
Colomèrs: This is the ideal excursion around the National Park of Aigüestortes to be enjoyed on foot. It is a cirque of glacial origin surrounded by mountains nearly 3000m high and offers breathtaking views over more than 48 lakes. During the summer months there is restricted access to private cars but there is the possibility to use a taxi shuttle service.
Montonliu zinc Mines: They are found around the lake Montoliu and the Urets pass.
Montgarri: All the landscape around the old sanctuary is amazingly beautiful. It is located among forests and fields, close to the peaceful Noguera Pallaresa, surrounded by absolute tranquility.
