The Aran Valley produces one of the most valued caviars in the whole of Europe. It is one of the most exclusive products in the area, and it is in the village of Les (Baish Aran), just a few kilometres from the border with France next to the Garona River, where we find the fish farm of Caviar Nacarii. It is the first world tourist destination that begins the cultural use of the product to allow tourists to discover and get to know caviar using hands-on activities.
This fish farm is situated at 700 metres above sea level, next to the Garona River, and it is the only one in the world located within a nature reserve and using ice water.
There are guided tours which allow the visitor to learn all the steps taken in the production of caviar and sturgeon meat. During the one-hour visit you will learn about the history, origins, the various stages in the life of the sturgeon and what to do in order to obtain this delicacy. At the same time, it is also possible to taste the products as there are caviar and smoked sturgeon tastings accompanied by a glass of cava.
